We are proud to announce you that the YES Network has a new website! You can visit it at: www.networkyes.org
We moved from the previous platform to a brand new one with a new layout, new features, and new functions that we would like to introduce you. The new features include:
A new software platform: We changed the software platform from Concrete5 to Joomla; a more efficient and flexible system to manage the webpages with multiple functionalities and a versatile infrastructure
Information reorganization: The information on the website has been reorganized to facilitate navigation and equilibrate the content in the pages
YES Forum: One of the most important features of this new website is the implementation of a forum tool, which is aimed at creating a space of direct exchange between the YES members around the World;
Resources section: This section will host all content related to professional development for our membership. Besides the “Positions & Funding” page, a special function to download material is available and we will progressively be developing it. Therefore, feel free to send us relevant material if you want to contribute!
Registration system: Since the network is now officially recognized as a Non-Profit Organization, we are sending you this e-mail to ask you to register again as YES members in order to confirm your adherence to the network and to its statutes and bylaws. The registration is completely Free. Moreover, we have changed our registration system to meet the needs of our members in terms of management of their online YES profiles. Registered YES members will have the chance to create and modify their profiles directly (modifications include also usernames and passwords). They will also have the possibility to access and use the YES forum, and other features on the website.
Newsletter registration: For YES affiliated bodies and other interested parts that would like to stay up-to-date about the YES Network’s news; a registration for the newsletter-only is possible on the Home page of the website.
We hope you enjoy this new platform and that it will be a constructive space for exchange and for raising interest around the network’s activities and goals in order to increase awareness about the importance of Earth Sciences for the Society. We also believe it is an interactive process, and in this new phase of the network, we would like to invite our membership to contribute in all the aspects of its development, from submitting material and news, to getting involved in YES projects and events. It is a chance to gain experience and build a strong and united young workforce from all continents.
The YES Network will be launching its elections very soon and therefore we would like to invite you to prepare for it if you are interested in joining the new leadership team! News about this will be coming up very soon. So stay tuned!
Last—but not least—we would like to express our deep gratitude to the American Geosciences Institute (AGI) for its support since the creation of the network in 2008, mainly by hosting and managing our first web platform. We thank Pat Leahy (President of the AGI) for his all-time support, Leila Gonzales (Former leader in the YES Network) for setting all the basics for the run of the YES Communications and for her devotion and hard work, Heather Houlton for her assistance and support in managing the YES database, Christopher Keane for his assistance in YES webinars programing and for facilitating the transition to the new YES Network’s website.
