del Fiume Magra, bandisce il Premio “David Giuntini”, I edizione, anno
2011, al fine di onorare la memoria di David e portare avanti il suo
amore per la ricerca. Il premio sarà assegnato a tre lavori di carattere
scientifico riguardanti le SCIENZE DELLA TERRA in uno dei molti aspetti
storici, culturali, economico-sociali, morfologici, naturalistici e
applicativi. Particolare attenzione sarà riservata alle opere attinenti
alla GEOMORFOLOGIA e alla GEOLOGIA APPLICATA e ai lavori inerenti il
territorio del BACINO DEL FIUME MAGRA

World Landslide Forum 2 in Rome

The Second World Landslide Forum has the objective to further develop the outcomes of the First Forum in Tokyo 2008 by providing a global cross-cutting information and cooperation platform for all types of organizations representing academia, United Nations organisations, governments, private enterprises and individuals that contribute to landslide research, practice, education and decision making and are willing to strengthen landslide and other related Earth system risk reduction strategies.

Dear Colleagues,
It is our great honor to invite submissions to the first edition of the YES Network Bulletin.
The submission deadline is September 30, 2011.
The fundamental aim of the YES Network Bulletin is to publish contributions pertaining to all aspects of earth sciences, providing a timely forum to the advancement of the entire field. The YES Network Bulletin is published twice per year, in July and December. Papers must be original, and will present data, interpretations and/or syntheses that are unpublished and/or have not been submitted elsewhere. If accepted, the papers become copyright of the YES Network.

General:
Work closely with Esri’s Chief Scientist (http://bit.ly/kajHZO ) to develop application prototypes, tools, and appropriate data models, templates, datasets, and documentation. In this role, you will also work closely when appropriate with the Maritime Professional Services Team, the Marine and Coast Industry Marketing Team and the Applications Prototype Lab.

Responsibilities:
• Assist in the design, creation, and maintenance of GIS tools and workflow automation methods
• Develop 3D and 4D visualization and analysis prototypes
• Port legacy tools to new formats
• Assist in developing tools and documentation to support various data interoperability projects including data modeling, vocabularies, ontologies, and sharing/exchange of maps, data, and analyses in cloud infrastructures
• Collaborate with key users on usability issues and best practices
• Focus on supporting coastal and marine spatial planning and benthic terrain analysis
Requirements:
• Master degree in geography, GIS, marine science, computer science, or a related field (B.S. also acceptable depending on experience)
• Windows and/or UNIX/Linux experience
• Geoprocessing experience including scripting (Python, Java, JavaScript, JSP, HTML) and programming (C++, C#)
• Strong familiarity with geodatabase concepts and objects
• Experience with large environment application installation deployments
• Proficiency in mapping APIs (e.g., ArcGIS, JavaScript/Flex); simple XML-based web services with geographic context (e.g., SOAP, REST, GeoRSS); and data/map services for use in GIS analysis (e.g., ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online; Open Geospatial Consortium WMS, WFS)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• An innovative, results-oriented team player with strong multi-tasking skills
Highly Recommended Qualifications:
• Silverlight programming experience
• Web application setup authoring experience
• Ability to design, build, and manage maps and data content for the ArcGIS user community
